Things you can do in the “off year”

Action-Now-ButtonJust because the Montana Legislature is not in session this year does not mean our work stops. There is still a lot that needs to be done to help create safe and just alternatives to the death penalty, and we need your help!

Here are a few easy things you can do:

Do you have a few seconds? Take a moment to follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook. We make regular updates in both places, and it will help you stay informed about the latest news from Montana and around the country.

Do you have a minute? Fill out our online sign-up form to make sure we have the latest contact information for you. This will help us ensure we can reach you and have you grouped in your proper (new) legislative district. That way, when the time comes, we can help you  contact your elected officials and encourage them to support repeal.

Do you have a couple of minutes and want to make a big impact? Consider making a donation to the Montana Abolition Coalition. In 2014, with your help, we will educate more Montanans, reach out to more community leaders, and work harder, longer and smarter to end Montana’s death penalty.

Do you have an hour or two? Help us bring a discussion to your church/community organization. Respectful community conversations on the death penalty help increase the awareness of the problems with Montana’s system. They also help us reach new people who are interested in taking action. You don’t have to do it alone! The Abolition Coalition can help you put together something for your local group – anything from an information table to a guest speaker to a film night.

Do you have some extra time on your hands? Volunteer with us! We need people who can help us mobilize Montanans across the state in preparation for the push for repeal in 2015. Contact us if you’re interested in getting involved.
