The Coalition

The Montana Abolition Coalition is a collaboration of organizations and individuals that value justice and are committed to repealing Montana’s death penalty. The Coalition supports policies that protect our citizens and ensure they have a safe place to live. We promote healing in the aftermath of violence for the victims, offenders, and our communities. We seek to hold offenders accountable for their crimes in a humane and fair manner.  We work toward a society that treats all people fairly, both within the legal system and within our broader communities. We advocate spending community resources wisely – eradicating wasteful systems like the death penalty and utilizing resources to garner the most benefit for Montanans. The Coalition works to educate the public about the failings of the death penalty and to make policy changes through the state legislature and the judicial system.
